CUTE NEW SUSHI!!!

I made this little felted sushi piece and started a new sculpture yesterday. I've still been sewing, but am trying to work back into needle-felting. Super cute & Yummy... not!

Also retook pictures of the Black Widow & Scorpion. Tried to help them be more cute & less aggressive. I think the fake grass helps out!

Pretty Fun!!! Have a great Wednesday!!!

LOTL is COMING....

LOLT a.k.a. "Land of the Lost" has come out with it's official Theatrical Trailer. It's longer and has more footage of stuff that I actually worked on!! Watch for the scenes with the crazy lizard people called "Sleestaks". That was one of the big sets I worked on, the runes. And the scene where he has the big blood sucking bug, is the giant camp tree I worked on!!! Pretty fun!!!

AND THE OSCAR....

was really hard to get to. I tried to walk up to the Theater yesterday (I live within walking distance of Hollywood & Highland), thinking I might be able to see some red carpet action, but you couldn't even get close. You could only get about a block away, which was blocked by police officers and production crews. It was a nice day & a great walk, so I wasn't too disappointed. I didn't even watch the show, I haven't seen many movies this last year. I usually see them on DVD which is a year after they do the award show thing.

These were the couple pictures I did get on my walk. The one on the left is a picture of the GoodYear blimp over the Jim Henson Studios. The right picture is the corner of Hollywood & Highland. That was the best picture of anything Oscar-y that I could get.

I also got some new items posted & started. New (re)GIFT BAGS that are super cute....

*great for Baby or Mommy-To-Be!!!!

I might start a felted sculpture today or tomorrow. I don't know why, but I haven't been motivated to sculpt. I think sewing has a lot less thinking involved & is just kinda mindless & busy. I like to be busy!!!

STUPID TAXES...

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I'm the taxman,
Yeah, I'm the taxman.
-
The Beatles

I think I might try and tackle my taxes today. I've been putting it off. I was going to do it a couple weeks ago, but found out that my computer's CD ROM is busted, so had to wait to use Lance's computer.

STUPID TAXES... STUPID COMPUTER...

But fingers crossed that the government taxed the CRAP outta me when I had a job for the first 6 months, so I'll get a great big tax return! Knowing my luck though, I'll owe :(

On a positive note here are some new (re)GIFT BAGS. I've been kinda chill on sculpting the past couple weeks, and am really enjoying sewing!

I've got more bags that I should finish up today & this weekend! The new ones are more specific to who the gift is for... All inspired by future presents that I'll need to give!!!

NEW DAY... OLD LAUNDRY...

Yesterday was a pretty good work day. Got some real work done in the studio. This is great because I've been kinda unmotivated recently. Also started cleaning & today I need to go do some laundry. BOOOOO!!!! It's such a pain when you have to actually leave the house and set aside time to do laundry at the Laundromat.

Did get some pictures taken yesterday between rain showers. Here's a new (re)GIFT BAG that is the beginning in an evolution in (re) GIFT BAGS. This one doesn't close & has handles!!!!

DON'TCHA HATE IT...

When the website you stole images off of it decides to move their picts, so it screws up your posting????

ANYWAYS... Hope everybody had a great holiday weekend. Mine was awesome, go some Mochi Icecream & a laptop desk for Valentine's Day (totally wanted both), went out for a eat-yourself-into-a-stupor dinner with Lance on Sunday night. CLAIM JUMPER ROCKS!!! We got a PSP from his mom, so spent a good part of yesterday playing a block puzzle video game. Went to the fabric store & got some new felt!!!

Overall a pretty great weekend. I should have some new picts of items in a couple days, it's raining cats & dogs here so I have to wait till the sun comes back out!!

WHAT ELSE.... umm... Super excited cause my parents are coming to visit in a couple of weeks!!! Really glad they are able to make it. But you know what that means.... I have to clean... and find new a exciting places to drag them to. Here are a couple of local Los Angeles restaurants that EVERYBODY has to try out if you're ever in the city....

Philippe's - The Original Restaurant Specializing in French Dip Sandwiches

I'm a such a fan of the Dip Sandwich & this place is so much fun & DELICIOUS!! There is always like a 1/2 hour wait to order your sandwiches. It's on a corner downtown near Union Station. mmmm......

mmm... Canter's Deli...

I LOVE Canter's. It's a Hollywood legend. It's pretty much within walking distance to my house in the Fairfax district. I'm such a sucker for diners, but this is the ultimate Jewish Deli. There is a really famous picture of some very young member of Gun's N' Roses that was taken at Canter's. I'm too lazy to try and find it right now.

I'VE O.D.ed

I think I've overdosed on the internet & my little "online shop". Tueday was my breaking point. I think I spent like 8 hours on the computer or something. So starting yesterday, instead of taking baby steps back, I'm taking a GIANT LEAP back!!! Making fun artsy-crafty stuff has become a chore & that's exactly what I didn't want to happen. So I'm gonna chill out for a while.

I sat outside in the sun & read a book. I need to clean-up the house, definitely go to the gym, get some groceries, & cook dinner. That's my plan for the day.

I'll post some picts of the last couple of new pieces I made. Making bugs is kinda fun because they are so creepy and gross, but really interesting!!

Check 'em out in my shop now!! I like the spider, CREEPY!! OooooH!!! I officially have over 100 ♥'s on my Etsy shop!!!! Pretty cool!

NOT MUCH GOING ON...

Not much going on today. We did go see "He's Just Not That Into You" & it was pretty cute. I'm usually don't like girly movies that much, but this one was cute AND funny. I recommend it as a great date movie for Valentine's Day!!!

ummm... I'm working on a couple new pieces (like always) and might have pictures tomorrow...

hmmm... I really need to go to the gym, I've been REALLY bad the past couple weeks...

uhhh... I'm just stretching here for stuff...

Here's a couple cute things I've found on Etsy recently (if you have nothing to say... stop talking!)

chetart - Tokyo Rodeo - $20

I bought this print last week. I really like Chetart's style. This one's funny cause it reminds me of the mix between Lance & me!! Japanese Monster meets Cowboy!

BunnyBubbles - Fortune Cookie Soap Set - $6

I just think these are sooo cute. They look pretty realistic too! She also has some sushi shaped soaps, too.

MONDAY... KINDA

I'm still getting used to Lance's new schedule. His days off are Monday and Tuesday, so I pretty much have no idea what day it is. Didn't see a movie yet, but will today or tomorrow. So I'll let you know then!!! Made a couple of sales this weekend!!! And one was even to a stranger!!! CHEERS to first non-family-member sale!!! Started some new creep pieces, should finish 'em up in the next couple days. And posted a couple new items in my shop that are getting some good views.

These are a couple of yummy cute needle-felted cupcakes! Available in my ETSY shop for only $12!!!

SIDENOTE:

OK. So this is the MOST AWESOME web series ever. It's about a group of online gamers & their socially awkward antics. We've been watching it on the X-BOX, but you can check the episodes out at their web site. The Guild remind me of my friend Esti. She would love it...

TGIF

Yea Friday!! Today is kinda like a Friday cause Lance has off tomorrow. We are going to be helping his dad and grandma move in the morning. It rained all for the past couple days, hopefully it won't pour tomorrow!

Today I'm going to feature an awesome gift guide (well, mainly because I'm in it).

This is a spring Gift Guide of local California Crafters. There's lots of cute jewelry, bath and spa products, handmade gift cards, and kid's stuff featured on there. You can find me in the "Tots to Teens", "Etc", and "Under $50" sections. This is my first jump into advertising my items in a guide (it was really cheap!) and I'll wait and see if it brings in any new business!!

SIDENOTE:

There are lots of great movies opening in theaters this weekend. We usually wait till they come out on DVD, but we might have to go see one of these.... They look pretty awesome, I think we'll have to go see the first one though! I'll let you know on Monday!!!

IT SOMEWHAT WORKED

I did get some stuff done. The baby steps are working I think. I went walking yesterday because I was amazingly nice out. I got some new pieces up on my Etsy shop, finished my mom's B-day present, worked on the first real felted chicken, and even started a new piece that I should end up finishing today!! So I got quite a bit done, that's what happens when you aren't glued to the computer for most of the day!!!

Speaking of new items posted in my shop...

NEW (re)GIFT BAGS ARE HERE!! - Same old graphics, brand new designs!! These small bags are sized to fit a little personal presents, possibly the size of a jewelry box, or even a pieces of MEGA SUSHI!!! Available for $ 10.00 at my shop FeltedChicken

SIDENOTE:

Watch NBC tonight to see the whole & full "Land of the Lost" trailer. I don't watch t.v. so I probably won't see it tonight, but I will find it and post it here tomorrow!!!

I AM ADDICTED...

to the internet...

Man, I know it's bad, that's why I think I'm gonna try to take some baby steps back from my obsessive need to be constantly connected. It's so bad that when I am lost, like the other night, I call my mom & dad to look up directions on google because I forgot I have an actual map (made of paper) in my car. It's bad. Especially since I have not much else to occupy my time because I'm still not working. But the problem comes in when I spend more time promoting my art work on line, than making it.

So for the next couple days I really gonna focus on making some cool stuff for my shop. I'll post pictures in a couple of days, maybe tomorrow I won't post a blog

Thats's ok, you know. To take a day away from the blog...
You guys can handle that right...
as long as I come back with some SUPER-AWESOME stuff huh?
Quality over quanity!!

AHHH... MONDAY...

not really much of a Monday for me, Lance is working Wednesday through Sunday, so it's kinda like a Saturday for me. That's really gonna screw me up!! See any good commercials last night??? I think my favorite was the one for Doritos. The one where the guys are throwing the snow-globe thing around. I'm a sucker for stuff breaking. On the commercial note....

LAND OF THE LOST COMMERCIAL!!!

MY FIRST MOVIE IN THEATERS SOON!!!!

Really exciting cause I saw a couple of the sets that I got to work on!! The part where they are in the raft in the cave was Lance's set, too!! But they are also going to be debuting the Trailer on Thursday night on NBC, so be sure to check it out!!!

FYI ---

so just in case you haven't heard yet, there has been a one year stay of enforcement for the lead testing for the CPSIA!!!!! Exciting cause now we can not get so worked up over it, but we also have to keep working to make sure it gets amended or we'll be right back here next year. Here's the official statement that I saw on the Etsy Forum posted by an official Etsy administrator....

"Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission voted unanimously
(2-0) to issue a one year stay of enforcement for certain testing and certification requirements for manufacturers and importers of regulated products, including products intended for children 12 years old and younger. These requirements are part of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which added certification and testing requirements for all products subject to CPSC standards or bans.

Significant to makers of children’s products, the vote by the Commission provides limited relief from the testing and certification requirements which go into effect on February 10, 2009 for new total lead content limits (600 ppm), phthalates limits for certain products (1000 ppm), and mandatory toy standards, among other things. Manufacturers and importers – large and small – of children’s products will not need to test or certify to these new requirements, but will need to meet the lead and phthalates limits, mandatory toy standards and other requirements.
The decision by the Commission gives the staff more time to finalize four proposed rules which could relieve certain materials and products from lead testing and to issue more guidance on when testing is required and how it is to be conducted.
The stay will remain in effect until February 10, 2010, at which time a Commission vote will be taken to terminate the stay."
